50 Kilometres, 51 People, One Incredible Purpose
On Friday, 4 April, the Ruby Mae’s Wish team took on an extraordinary challenge: trekking 50 kilometres from Middle Head to Coogee in less than 15 hours, all in support of two remarkable charities – Ruby Mae’s Wish and Beyond Blue.
What began as a fundraising goal quickly became a true test of endurance, resilience, and teamwork.
Our team of 51 participants faced a range of personal challenges throughout the day. From blisters, cramps, chafing and exhaustion to training regrets, mental fatigue, and even a few unfortunate wardrobe choices, every person encountered obstacles that pushed them beyond their comfort zone. There is no doubt about it – it was tough.
Yet despite the physical and mental demands, our team pressed on.
Drawing on a collective strength, determination, grit, and unwavering support for one another, every kilometre became a reminder of why we were there. The camaraderie shown throughout the trek was inspiring, proving that when people come together for a common cause, incredible things can happen.
And incredible things did happen.
Through the dedication of every participant, the generosity of our donors, and countless hours of fundraising and hard work, the Ruby Mae’s Wish Trek raised an astounding $116,792 for Ruby Mae’s Wish and Beyond Blue.
This remarkable achievement belongs to every single member of the team. It is a reflection of the passion, commitment, and community spirit that each person brought to the challenge.
A Team Behind the Team
While the trekkers covered the kilometres, none of this would have been possible without our incredible support crew.
From the early hours of the morning until the final steps of the trek, our support team provided encouragement, motivation, logistics, refreshments, and plenty of smiles along the way. Their dedication and enthusiasm kept spirits high when the kilometres became long and the legs became tired.
We are deeply grateful for everything they did to help make the day such a success.
