Ruby Mae Peake Born on the 18th March 2018.
Ruby was our dearly loved daughter and loving older sister to Holly. Ruby is now also a big sister to a little boy Barney. Ruby would have been the biggest help with her sister Holly and brother Barney.
She loved all animals great and small. Her Cats Romeo and Juliet and her Puppy Bingo. It was Ruby’s job to feed Romeo, Juliet and Bingo, they all got about 1kg of cat biscuits per animal sometimes twice a day.
Ruby left an impression on everyone she met with her smile and bubbly personality. Often when you talk to people their first question was how’s Ruby?
At the family’s recent heifer sale, Ruby said to an agent John “You get what you get and you don’t get upset”. To which Ruby’s dad replied, “that’s right isn’t it Ruby”, her response was “but dad I do, get upset”.
Ruby loved everything outdoors she wasn’t a kid to sit still. She had a lot of passions including playing her guitar singing, dancing, drawing, fishing, playing with her pets, painting, riding her bike, gardening, playing with Lego, cooking & water fights.
Ruby was our right-hand girl she would pass the tools hold & the nails when building. Ruby would often say “Dad, I need new batteries in my toy.” I (Nick – Ruby’s dad) would say “run to the shed get the small Phillips head screwdriver” and back she would come with the right one so we could fix the toy. Ruby also loved helping her mum cook, clean or do “puter” (computer) work with all so she could help get it done faster to play or paint.
Ruby was the best big sister, we remember when we bought Holly home Ruby was so proud and just wanted to cuddle her forever, she helped Holly learn to crawl and they loved night-time showers together where they could sit and play for hrs if we let them.
She loved fishing and going on the boat but would never touch the fish and wanted them back in the water straight away. We visited many aquariums with Ruby and had to do many laps around, she would get so excited that she would just run the whole way and was very upset when we couldn’t get a pet penguin. At the Sydney aquarium we told her she could pick one toy; Ruby didn’t go for the cute and cuddly toy like most little girls would want she went straight for a squid soft toy now known as Mr Squidward.
We would ask Ruby what do you want to do when you grow up? Ruby would reply “I want to be a doctor or maybe a mermaid”? We are sure Ruby could have been whatever she wanted to be because she was so determine and always knew what she wanted.
Ruby started at Barraba Preschool in 2021, she was so proud to get to go to school and enjoyed every day there. After the first month of Preschool, she asked us if she could go on Chris’s big bus and get dropped home. We really admired her confidence and independence in everything she did.
Ruby also loved flowers she would always pick flowers and bring them inside, putting them into shot glasses decorating the house. Each flower could not be in the same glass so there were often 10+ shot glasses with flowers in them so she could watch them grow.
We all have so many Memories of Ruby she was always a pleasure to be around. In her short 4 years of life, she packed a lot in. If you ever had a bad day and came home, she would always brighten it up.
Our house will be forever too quiet now, we will always be longing to hear her singing on her Karaoke machine at 6:30 in the morning, playing doctors giving everyone their 100th covid shot or riding the bike up and down the hallway chasing her sister and now brother.
